Queen Elizabeth II

We thank God for our wonderful Queen and mourn her passing.

Special services are taking place  to pray, mark the Queen’s death and commemorate her life,

St Albans Cathedral

  • Sunday 18th September 6pm

    His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire together with the Dean and Chapter of St Albans Cathedral invite you to a service of commemoration and thanksgiving for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Sung by the Cathedral Choirs, this service will pay tribute to the Queen’s care for others and her life of service, dedication and faithfulness.

    Please arrive in good time as there will be no reserved seating.

  • Sunday 18 September at 7.30pm.

    This simple service of night prayer (Compline) signals the end of the day to mourners. This service will be followed by the National Moment of Reflection at 8pm. 

  • Monday 19 September from 10am.

    The Cathedral will be open and the BBC’s coverage of the Queen’s State Funeral will be live streamed in the Nave.
