Prayers for Peace

You & your congregation are invited to a 15-minute service to pray for peace  at the Peace Pillar in Sumpter Yard starting at 3pm.  on Sunday, 10 August followed by a cuppa in the Abbot’s Kitchen.

The pillar was given to the Cathedral by the people of Japan when, unlike at all other cathedrals, Dean Thicknesse refused to ring the bells to celebrate the end of the war , in recognition of the terrible suffering at

Hiroshima & Nagasaki    This service is held on the nearest Sunday to the date of those tragedies.
