SUMMARY:COP26 Relay Pilgrimage through St Albans
DESCRIPTION:The Young Christian Climate Network is organising a relay pilgrimage to COP26 aiming to reach Glasgow at the end of October.  The route passes through our Diocese during August 10th-12th. \nThere has been a change of route so that the overnight stop on August 9th will be at Muswell Hill rather than Harrow.  In order that there would be no more than ten miles to walk each day\, the organisers have decided that the pilgrimage will not now be stopping at Watford\, but the overnight stop on August 10th will be at Borehamwood\, where St Michael & All Angels will be providing hospitality.  A stop in the afternoon at St Albans Abbey for a gathering on the grass is planned for August 11th before proceeding to Hemel Hempstead.  St John’s Boxmoor have kindly offered hospitality\, but this is not confirmed yet. \nThe stopping point for August 12th at Tring will be at Tring Baptist Church. \nThe confirmed details so far are:\nAugust 9th:  stop at Muswell Hill\nAugust 10th:  Muswell Hill to Borehamwood\nAugust 11th:  Borehamwood to St Albans (afternoon) and on to Hemel\nAugust 12th:  Hemel to Tring \nA tributary route is being planned from the Letchworth area to join the pilgrimage;  other tributaries can be planned and if you would be interested in walking or supporting the pilgrimage in any way\, please register in the first instance on the YCCN website (www.yccn.uk) so that the organisers have a complete picture of how many walkers/helpers there will be\, and then contact either Peter Willcox for the Letchworth tributary (peterj.willcox@ntlworld.com) or myself if you are planning a tributary from your area or an event in support of the pilgrimage. \nFurther information on planning a tributary can be found on the YCCN website Tributary Guide (yccn.uk) and details of the kind of help needed and events that could be planned in support of the pilgrimage and action for climate justice can be found at How to Get Involved (yccn.uk) and Meet and Greet (yccn.uk) \nDownloads: \nHH DL leaflet – FINAL ONLINE LR \nHiA Newsletter July 2021 \nHow to Get Involved YCCN Relay \nWhy the Relay_ (1)
